A Baker's Dinner

Ashley and Brian invited us over for a yummy dinner and a chance to hold Jet.

Jet's got two of the cutest siblings ever! Ivy with her gorgeous baby blues and Eli with his infectious love of being tickled, tortured and tormented.

A couple of Ashley's recent paintings based on folds.

Jet is just 5 weeks old, but smiles big when gramma
plays a speed version of patty-cake with him.

Mary Deane's Surgery

Mary Deane had surgery today to insert a g-tube into her abdomen. She has Cystic Fibrosis and with that comes complications with her body not absorbing fat and nutrients. This will help her gain weight and receive better nutrition. For the past almost 4 years, her parents Ann and Brendon have given her enzymes orally to help her body absorb the nutrients she eats. It has been an ordeal multiple times a day, because if she takes the enzymes but then doesn't eat, they will eat away the lining of her stomach. Plus, Mary Deane didn't like to swallow the enzymes.  Now with the g-tube, she doesn't have to swallow them and they can give her a much healthier diet without the challenge of having her eat it.  It will cut their daily medical treatments from about 6 hours a day to maybe 3.

Can't Get Better Than This!

Cohen helped me pick cherries today in the backyard.  Actually he imitated a barking dog and the chirping birds while I picked the cherries.
Dark red and sweet. If June in Utah had a flavor, it would be ripe cherries.

BAPPY HAIRTHDAY BEN

Ben, you've always been good at honoring your parents. A very Korean thing, a very Judeo-Christian thing, a very good thing. I never recall you being disrespectful, even during your teenage time. Thank you!
I love you! Happy Birthday!

Perfect Match

They came to dinner Sunday afternoon in shades of licorice, tomato, and cherry. It was an unplanned match. So we packed the chairs out to the middle of the road and shot the two of them with Timp as a backdrop.
A truck drove past the tete a tete and the driver nodded knowingly.

Rest Stops On Our Way from North Carolina To Utah

Rebecca humored me by rerouting our U-haul along the most direct route to Carthage and Nauvoo, Illinois.  We had our own private tour of the Carthage Jail, where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother were martyred.

I was excited to be able to see the newly constructed Nauvoo temple.

My relatives, Joseph, Newell and Lydia Knight lived in Nauvoo during the life of Joseph Smith.
We also got to visit Elder Carl and Sister Paula Mangum, Craig's parents at the Winter Quarters visitor center, in Omaha Nebraska. We learned from them that Come, Come Ye Saints was written by William Clayton while he was in Winter Quarters just after learning that his wife had given birth back in Nauvoo.
