The 9 Bees Rug

This rug was inspired by President Gordon B. Hinckley's
talk on the 6 "B's". He later added an additional 3 to total
nine: Be Clean, Be True, Be Positive, Be Humble, Be Still,
Be Prayerful, Be Grateful, Be Smart, and Be Involved.
Some refer to them as the Be Attitudes. It's a great list to
live by.
In designing the rug, I took an old tumbling block quilt design
and tweaked the colors. The six sides of a single tumbling
block is a hexagon--mimicing the honeyed hexagons in a hive.
The large bees are a thicker pile so they appear to hover over
their colorful hive. This rug is 5x7. I have also done an 8x10'
size as well. The first rug made was presented to President
Hinckley by a family with a note that read; "Dear President
Hinckley, We are trying as hard as we can to Be."
The rugs are either all silk(as above) or wool with silk bees.
Most have a black border with the various colored "Be's"
They are hand-knotted in China.
