Elise and Maya have a wonderful gramma, Lark, who has commissioned me to make a doll that they can play with when they go over to visit her.
Here are photos of the beginning of the Elise and Maya doll:
The fabric is ramie, a natural fiber made from the stems of thistles.
Sketching the faces with water soluble colored pencils.
Both faces have been stitched and colored by hand. Next I sew the dolls inside out and then turn them outside in.
Stitched but not stuffed.
I used over two pounds of stuffing, densely packed.
The clothing is a variety of cloth samples stitched on to the bodies. (More photos to come)
