A Small Frank Lloyd Wright House

The Pope-Leighey House, built in 1940. Cost $7100. 1200 square feet.
Now a part of the National Trust For Historic Preservation.

They wouldn't allow photography inside, but I took these through the windows.

There are 6 tables designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that could be put together for large gatherings.  The chairs are also original FLW designs.

The floor is Cherokee Red colored cement with radiant heat pipes running beneath to heat the house.

The interior and exterior patios are the same elevation.

This home was slated for demolition to make room for a freeway.  The owner sold it to the state and then used the funds to help have it moved to it's current location (3 miles from Mt. Vernon). Unfortunately they built it on marine clay and it started to slide, cracking the foundation.  They spent $730,000 to move it 40 yards.
