We found this hand-carved wooden mold. It is traditionally used to press designs into deok , the gelatinous rice cakes that are similar to really dense dumplings. It is an incredibly popular food here in Korea. BUT WE DON'T DO DEOK!
WE DO COOKIES!So I decided to used the mold to press a design into the ginger sesame cookie dough.
The granulated sugar highlighted the flower design.
